Email is a godsend and indeed an incredible time waster, depending on which way you look at it. It is also an essential business tool and it makes sense to have branded email accounts. This can help to raise the professionalism of your business and also act as a possible promotional tool when someone sees your email address, they can also quickly deduce what your website domain name is i.e. everything after the “@” character.
How many email addresses?
We provide you with up to 10 email addresses, although typically our clients opt for just the one. Usually a generic name such as info@yourdomainname.com will suffice. Some common options clients have selected include;
info@
admin@
enquiries@
firstnameofowner@
You are free to choose whatever name you would like. Remember the email address runs off the domain name you select for your website.
How do I access my email account?
Essentially you have two ways of accessing your email account. The first and preferred option is to set up Microsoft Outlook. For a complete discussion, including a step-by-step visual screenshot refer to our Guide to setting up email with Microsoft Outlook. Download
The other option is called Webmail. It is very similar to the way in which hotmail, gmail and indeed any other internet based email accounts work. You can login and check your email from anywhere in the world, using any computer with and internet connection. You simply follow these three steps;
Go to; http://www.yourdomainname.com/webmail
Insert your full email address in the username field e.g. info@yourdomainname.com and then your password in the password field, which is determined upon set up.
Select your preferred email program, either Horde or Squirrel Mail. They are pretty similar in operation and you can choose the one you like the best.
That is it. You are then into the inbox of your email account. You can send and receive emails as you like.
Webmail can be handy for travellers or those working away from their usual computer. For everyday use, Your Small Business Website recommends you use Microsoft Outlook.
