A domain name is your business name for the internet. The two are somewhat similar but not interchangeable. You need a .com or .com.au name for visitors to find your site.
|
| What does the .au mean? |
The .au merely denotes an Australian website. Furthermore we encourage Australian businesses to acquire a .au domain name unless they conduct business internationally.
|
| What about international domain names? |
Each country of the world has their own domain registry. Some common examples you may have come across include;
.co.nz – New Zealand
.co.uk – United Kingdom
.ca – Canada
.de – Germany
.us – United States (although most US business adopt the .com version only)
.fr – France
.es – Spain
and so on. If you are conducting business or planning to conduct business in any of these countries, we strongly advise you to register the domain name. Your intellectual property is very important and it is vital that your name does not fall into the hands of a competitor. Please Contact us for further information if you wish to register international domain names.

3. Hosting |
| Where are your servers located? |
Our servers are located in Sydney, Australia. The servers are maintained by a professional team of technicians with daily back-ups and no downtime. This provides reliable 24/7 service for your website.
|
| What is website hosting? |
Hosting works like this. Your website is best thought of as a collection of computer files, which are all linked in together. These files then need to be uploaded to a dedicated server, which is turned on. Your website can then be viewed by anyone anywhere in the world with an internet connection. All websites need to be hosted and your personal computer will not be sufficient to host a website. A dedicated server is required.
|
| How fast is the hosting? |
Very. Anyone with a broadband connection anywhere in the world will find that the website will download at a very fast speed. Dial-up users will be a touch slower, but that is due to their connection and not our servers. They will still be able to access and view your website in a speedy fashion. |

| 7. Search Engine Optimisation |
| How do I get to the top of Google? |
Google are looking for three things; |
- Good content. Your site needs to have something worthwhile to say. It needs to provide more and/or better information than your competitors.
- Good keywords. A keyword can loosely be defined as what a potential searcher will type into the Google search box. You need to take some time to think of the most popular ways that users will attempt to find you and then develop solid content (see point 1) around those keywords.
- Link Popularity. You need to get some quality inbound links to your website. Every link is like a vote in a popularity contest. The more relevant the link the better and the more total links you get will increase your chances of striking the jackpot and getting on the front page of Google.
|
| What are inbound and outbound links? |
An inbound link is a link from an external website into your website. An outbound link is the opposite i.e. from your site to another. Outbound links are not considered by search engines for your website’s ranking.
|
| 8. Website Promotion |
| How do I promote my website? |
There are a number of ways to do this, however the best way is to simply put your domain name on all correspondence and marketing materials. This is offline promotion. With online promotion, you can sign up for many free business directories that you give your business exposure as well as a link to your website. This also helps your search engine rankings (see How do I get to the top of Google? Above). Other options include writing articles and submitting to article directories. Furthermore entering into reciprocal link swapping can be a great way to gain a huge amount of online exposure and generate real traffic for your website.
